Brain Morphology In Vivo
- MRI, Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Using standardized stimulation sequences
a morphologic image of the subject's brain is obtained.
Using several different sequences, the brain
size and region of interest (ROI) can be determined with great accuracy,
as well as the differentiation between and volume of gray and white
matter. An extensive development is performed to determine the volume
of individual central brain nuclei and different regions of gray
matter in the cerebral cortex.
The segmentation technique also allows separate
determination of the volume of the subarachnoidal space and the
size of the brain ventricles.
