The future
Today, the research team characterizes the
volume of a number of specified brain structures. A future step
is to expand the investigations to include also measurements of
surface structures and diffusion. Diffusion, i.e. the movements
of fluid in brain tissue, reflects the structure of white matter
of the brain.
A future aim is to expand and intensify longitudinal
investigations on schizophrenic patients who initially do not take
medication. Such investigations help the researches to differentiate
between structural changes caused by the disease and changes induced
as a side effect of medication.
