Schizophrenic patients

Deviations and disturbances in these fundamental systems
Individuals suffering from schizophrenia have deviations and disturbances in these fundamental systems. The disturbances can be associated with abnormalities in physiology and morphology. The symptoms associated with schizophrenia can be considered as a lack of collaboration between the fundamental functions.

Neuropsychological impairments
Patients with schizophrenia are known to exhibit different types of neuropsychological impairments. These impairments also seem to have a larger prognostic value than symptom intensity. The clinical importance thus is well established.

Why do some individuals fall ill?
A long-term objective with the project is to develop a model for understanding why some individuals fall ill with schizophrenia. Already at a young age, malfunction can be observed in some parameters for individuals who later in life develop schizophrenia. These persons may have a vulnerability, which under some conditions may lead to the disease.
