Clinical assessment
A thorough clinical interview is an important
part of the study. A set of standard forms and questionnaires are
used to collect the interview data.
- Clinical assessments are evaluated by
SCAN (Semistructured Clinical Assessment in Neuropsychiatry)
- Present symptoms are rated by using SAPS
(Positive Symptoms) and SANS (Schedule for the Assessment of Negative
Symptoms)
- Criteria for schizophrenia are defined
by OPCRIT (Operationalized Criteria for Schizophrenia)
In addition, the patient fills out a form
for assessment of personality and the drug consumption is recorded.
Diagnosis are made according to DSM-IV-criteria based on case-notes
and interviews.
The general medical history of the patient
is evaluated by studying his or her medical record.
