Identical twins Pamela and Carolyn Spiro seemed to read each other's minds. But they went down different paths. Pamela began to hear voices on the day President Kennedy was killed. The twin sisters hope their shared biography will open people's minds and ease stigma of schizophrenia.

A documentary filmmaker's movie about growing up with a schizophrenic mother (10/15/05)
Even as a child, Susan Smiley knew her mother was different. Her life was an unending roller coaster of unpredictability, suicide attempts, betrayal, neglect, fear and shame. Because of the shame, Smiley kept the whole thing a secret. Growing up, she became a documentary filmmaker and created "Out of the Shadow", an award-winning documentary about her mother Millie's battle with schizophrenia in a disorganized health care system.

Death of schizophrenic actress inspires Indian movie makers (03/19/05)
Devrai (Sacred Grove) is an Indian movie about a neglected schizophrenic, played by Atul Kulkarni. The international award-winning directors Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar says what inspired them to make the movie was the recent death of schizophrenic actress Parveen Babi.
