Lena U Carlsson - The Author of the
Column
|
Lena U Carlsson is a science journalist,
who as a freelancer has been writing about natural sciences and
medicine for more than 20 years. She has a Bachelor of Science in
Chemistry, Microbiology, Geology and Genetics, and has in addition
studied Psychology and Medical Chemistry. Her articles have been
published in various Swedish papers and journals. A few of the topics
of her writing are the origin of life, the evolution, quantum physics
and climate. Several articles have also dealt with psychiatry. Together
with Arvid Carlsson she wrote "Hjärnans Budbärare"
("The Messengers of theBrain") in 1988. This book will
be updated and translated for publication in English this year.
Lena considers it important to fight against
pseudoscience. She is since 1982 a member of "Vetenskap och
Folkbildning", a Swedish association which aims at promoting
general education about the methods and results of science. For
a period she was the editor of "Folkvett", the journal
of this association. In her spare time she likes to paint and listen
to music.
HUBIN has, based upon Lena U Carlsson's background
and experience from both science and journalism, as well as her
particular interest in psychology and cultural arts, chosen to honor
her with her own column within the HUBIN schizophrenia web portal.
The content of the column will deal with different matters from
time to time, however still within the frame of the topic of schizophrenia.
Lena's first column (Schizophrenia
and Creativity) brings up the impact schizophrenia has had on
the creativity of mankind, and is the first in a series of articles
on this subject. If there is anything you would like to ask Lena
about, her e-mail address is lenac@telia.se.
