Description of an artistic friend
Tor
Bjurström was a pupil with Matisse at the same time as Sigrid
Hjertén. In the Swedish magazine Paletten in 1949 he writes
about her:
"(Sigrid Hjertén) was already then an unquiet sort,
one often missunderstood her and took for a social ambition to get
on, what was really a fretting artistic ambition with her. She certainly
wanted to advance, but with the aim to get close to herself. I have
never seen such an impatience in any of my artistic friends, her
nerves were always highly-strung and she was filled with an ecstatic
passion for art."
