Exhibition during the summer

The varnishing day of the exhibition with Sigrid Hjertén's pictures at Bror Hjorth's Hus in Uppsala, Sweden, is the 9th of June, and the exhibition goes on until the 2nd of September in 2001.

Book about Hjertén based on letters
lettersThe exhibition at Bror Hjorth's Hus is called "I sjŠlen alltid ren" after a book about Sigrid Hjertén with the same title, by the Swedish author Anita Goldman. Isaac Grunewald was a maternal uncle of Anita Goldman's father, and the author got the whole correspondence between Sigrid and Isaac by their son. In Goldman's book, which is based on these letters, you get very close to Sigrid and Isaac. It is interesting but also painful to read about their destiny. One easily forgets that Sigrid was also very successful during her life, even if she often had a hard time. Sigrid Hjertén worked as an artist for 30 years before psychical illness ruined her. Periodically she was highly productive and she participated in a large number of exhibitions.
