Sigrid Hjertén

The Swedish artist Sigrid Hjertén, who was active during the first half of the twentieth century, continues to fascinate. Hjertén worked as an artist for three decades but she stopped painting since she had fallen ill with schizophrenia in her fifties.

This summer, 2001, there is an exhibition at Bror Hjorth's Hus in Uppsala, Sweden, with pictures by Sigrid Hjertén. The art museum of the Swedish town of Norrkšping plans an exhibition with Hjertén's works in next spring, 2002. Moreover, there is going to be a movie about the life of Sigrid Hjertén and her husband, the artist Isaac Grünewald.

None of the illustrations shown here at the HUBIN website is made by Sigrid Hjertén. However, her art can be seen at other websites.
