Rudolf Persson
Rudolf Persson was born in 1882. He was talented,
his family affairs were good and he studied for the profession of
curator. However, in 1908 he behaves threatfully and is unable to
take care of himself. He is then first brought to the hospital of
the Swedish town of Ängelholm. Later, Rudolf Persson gets to
the mental hospital of Sankt Lars in Lund. In his case-book there
you can read that he feels he is being pursued and thinks that the
papers mostly writes about him. He hears voices with which he quarrels,
and he imagines that he can see the thoughts of other people in
front of him lika a copy. Rudolf Persson gets the diagnosis dementia
praecox, which corresponds to schizophrenia. Rudolf himself believes
that he has come to the hospital because he has caught hydrophobia
or distemper
Electrical guns and ploughs
Rudolf is drawing at the hospital. Like Maria Magdalena Rudbeck
(

about Rudbeck) he makes drawings of different kinds of constructions.
Rudolf Persson's constructions among other things deal with electrical
guns meant to be used for shooting down airships. Rudolf walks out
with a whole bag full of such drawings, for which he wants 176 295
000 Swedish crowns. Other drawings represent electrical ploughs.
Rudolf also paints pictures and draws exotic landscapes with coloured
chalks. He remains at Sankt Lars in 30 years, until his death in
1939.
