EDVARD MUNCH - A CREATIVE
MIND
Illness, insanity and death were the
black angels who watched over my cradle and who followed me throughout
my life. This statement was made by the Norwegian artist Edvard
Munch, whose paintings and graphic art are showed at Göteborg
Museum of Art in Gothenburg, Sweden until January 6 2003. Several
of Munchs most famous works are on display at the exhibition,
which reflects a great part of the artists life. For example,
there are pictures that are part of Livsfrisen (The
Frieze of Life). Already at an early stage in his career Edvard
Munch decided to describe the conditions of human life based on
his own experiences. The Frieze is meant to be a poem about
life, about love and death, declared Munch.
