"BERGTAGEN"

Back in history people believed that a psychotic person whose personality was changed had been captured and enchanted in a mountain by trolls. The Swedish name for this phenomenon is "bergtagen" ("enchanted"). "Bergtagen" was also the name of an exhibition in the spring of 2002 at Röda Sten in Gothenburg, Sweden, with works by Tomas Niklasson. The exhibition was the result of a project by the artist, the goal of which is to describe the situation of people with psychical problems, after the closing down of the big psychiatric institutions in Sweden in 1995.
