LENA U CARLSSON'S COLUMN NEWS FORUM VIP CORNER MEDICATIONS RESEARCH

For the quality improvement, there are revision groups consisting of former patients and their relatives. Their task is to interview other patients and relatives about their impressions of the medical health care. Preferably, yearly revisions should be made. Since the seventies, every patient in Swedish psychiatric care has got a contact person who handles the relations with relatives and others.

In a special project named "Anhörig 300" in Sweden, special consults have been appointed to assist and advise the relatives of mentally impaired individuals. However, not all of these consults turn to the relatives of the mentally impaired, and only a smaller fraction of the subprojects of "Anhörig 300" are directed towards this group of relatives.
