Advice and understanding
One of my most important functions is to
increase the understanding for the relative's
situation among the people who get in contact with relatives. Many
of the people I meet have felt maltreated in previous contacts with
doctors, nursing staff and social workers, which has made them afraid
of seeking help again, says Margareta.
The relatives may for instance also need
advice before talking with their doctors. What do I dare to tell
the doctor in front of the sick family member? Will the patient
be offended? These issues can be discussed with Margareta. For some
relatives, one or two talks are enough, while others come regularly
for a longer period of time.
