Zeldox released on the market
Finally the antipsychotic drug ziprasidon
- the commercial name of which is Zeldox
- is released. The pharmaceutical company Pfizer got a Swedish approval
of Zeldox already two years ago, but since the drug in rare cases
have
been found to cause serious cardiac arrhytmias, the release has
been questioned. The American Medical Products Agency, FDA, did
initially - in contrast to the Swedish authorities - not approve
of Zeldox. The reason for this was that the advantages were not
considered to compensate for the side effects. Several tests have
since then been made in the US, and based on primarily the fact
that Zedlox causes no significant cardiovascular side effects, the
drug is also approved here. Pfizer is released in Sweden in the
fall of 2000. In the United States alone, Zeldox is estimated to
bring in around 400 dollars to the company next year.
