Impaired attention
In
schizophrenia, the patient is often uncontrollably overwhelmed with
external and internal stimuli. This results in difficulty to focus
the attention and to concentrate.
Below is an example of a patient´s
experience of being unable to concentrate because of continual distraction:
|
"My concentration is very poor.
I jump from on thing to another.
If I am talking to someone
they only need to cross their legs or scratch their heads
and I am distracted and forget what I was saying.
I think I could concentrate better with my eyes shut."
