Psychotherapy

psychotherapyPsychotherapy, which sometimes is referred to as "talk therapy" may help persons with schizophrenia. It may be performed on an individual bases, or as group therapy.

In individual therapy a doctor, psychologist or other health professional talks with the person about their symptoms, and discusses alternative ways of thinking about and coping with them.

Group therapy may help some patients to get along with others, and it may be an important step in regaining social communication skills. However, since not everyone is comfortable in groups, this type of therapy is not suitable for all patients.
